Millhaus Sewing Co is a boutique-style business specializing in handmade leather bags with a playful twist. Founded by Emma Newell, a multigenerational sewist, who hand makes each & every leather bag in her lineup. Every bag tells a unique story, our patterns are custom-designed in-house and named after influential female singers. Our mission to blend fashion with function and sustainability helps each customer embrace style without compromising on values, knowing that every purchase contributes to a greener, more sustainable future. Each bag is meticulously crafted using high-quality, sustainably sourced leather, and infused with thoughtful details like card pockets and key leashes, making them perfect for the everyday woman.

What sets Millhaus apart is our commitment to reducing waste in the upholstery industry; our leather comes from upholstery remnants that would otherwise go to landfill.

At Millhaus Sewing Co, sustainability is at the core of everything we do. Our handcrafted leather bags are a testament to our commitment to reducing environmental impact. We source our leather from upholstery remnants, salvaging high-quality materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. By working with NC upholsterers to repurpose these remnants, we not only minimize waste but also support the circular economy. Each bag is meticulously crafted in-house, ensuring that every stitch is a step towards sustainability. We maintain a waste rate of about 5% from all materials we process, and prioritize sourcing our hardware and secondary materials from US-based companies, ensuring that every component of our bags supports local economies and reduces carbon footprints.
